RUI HACHIMURA BLACK SAMURAI

違いを光に

さらなる高みへ

いま、昇る

I was cast in a Different Light
But from that Light—
I Rise.

With the Fusion of Black and Red, Black Samurari Stands for the idea that Different is Powerful. A strong symbol of peace and declaration of identity between Rui’s 2 sides-Japanese and Beninese. In a society where uniformity Is encouraged , Black Samurai champions a future of self identity in the unique minds of youth in Japan.

Created in special collaboration with friends and family from ArtCenter College of Design—photograher Brandon Bowen, Set Designer Ava Villafane and TJ, Stylist-David Friend and Ryley Pascal, and Graphic Designer Andrew Chiou.

We created a handwoven custom basketball hoop with traditional japanese straw material that integrates japanese Hanamusubi-a symbol of good luck.
